Who Am I?
Hi neighbours,
My name is Luigi Mangone. I was born, raised and currently live in the Fisher Glen area in the Knoxdale-Merivale ward for 30 years. Yes, I am a 30 year old entering the political arena. Why you ask? I want to meet my neighbours, re-engage with my community and most of all serve the people in this beautiful city.
As a kid, I attended summer and winter camps at the General Burns Community Centre and I attended Laurier-Carrière Catholic Elementary School, Frank Ryan Catholic Intermediate School and St. Pius X High School. I graduated from Carleton University with a Commerce Degree with a minor in International Business. During and after my time at university, I worked as a public servant in finance, budgeting and salary forecasting for two federal government departments for over 8 years. I worked alongside with Director Generals and Assistant Deputy Ministers (7 years at Global Affairs Canada and 1 year at Employment and Social Development Canada) in preparing and reviewing multi-million and billion dollar operational and salary budgets on a monthly and quarterly basis.
I am a public transportation user, as well as cyclist, runner and a driver and I share the road with everyone. I care about the environment and that’s why you’ll see me around my community picking up garbage and recycling it. I’ve been described by my family, friends, and co-workers as passionate, genuine, selfless, inclusive, adaptable and always having a big smile on my face.
I am here to listen to your concerns, questions, and ideas about how to make our ward and city a community that will continue to thrive and grow for years to come. My goal in life, which I learned by example from my family, is to serve the public and provide what is needed to live a full and meaningful life by any means; this municipal election is the first of many steps in achieving this goal.
Feel free to call or send me a text message at 613-875-8444.
With love,
Luigi
